Jeff Emde is a graduate of the University of Arizona with a degree in engineering. He is a former Central Intelligence (CIA) Operations Officer who retired after twenty-six years of service where his job was to “recruit spies and steal secrets.“ His path to the CIA was unusual; from managing a bar in Tucson, the Bum Steer, to the spy world. He spent most of his career conducting operations in Europe, North Africa, North America, the Middle East, Central Asia, and South Asia. His focus was primarily weapons of mass destruction—specifically biological, nuclear, chemical, and advance conventional weapons—and worked on other transnational issues to include counternarcotics and counterterrorism in Afghanistan.

He started writing as a hobby toward the end of his career. During post-retirement contract work, he met Don Mann, a decorated Navy SEAL veteran and best selling author. When asked to co-author Black Sun Rising with him, the hobby became a bit more. Jeff writes with a sense of realism and humor, and hopes readers find his books entertaining.

Jeff also appears as a special guest and mission writer on seasons 2, 3, and 4 of the survival show Surviving Mann airing on the Pursuit Channel and a guest on Survival Dispatch News podcast on Rumble and CloutHub.
